Principal’s Message
Dear Families.
Welcome to the new school year! As we open our doors to a fresh start, we are filled with anticipation for the opportunities that await us. Our commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth remains steadfast. We are eager to welcome back our returning students and extend a warm greeting to the new members of our school family. Together, we will cultivate an intense sense of community, where every student feels valued, accepted, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Let us embark on this journey with optimism and a shared vision for a successful and enriching year ahead.
It is an honor to serve as the Principal of Michigan Avenue Elementary School, and a pleasure to watch the growth in students throughout Osceola County. I am delighted to be a part of the community and Principal at MAE. It is heartwarming to see all the accomplishments made and memories created throughout each school year. It gives me immense joy to see our students excel in and out of the classroom. I am proud of our athletic and artistic students who continue to amaze me with their talent and recognition at district and state competitions. In addition, parent participation at events held at the school is thriving, and it is always wonderful to witness as we strive to build capacity and sustainable relationships among all stakeholders involved in the journey to academic success for children. This includes parent involvement in the School Advisory Council (SAC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), and Title I Parent Involvement events held during the school year. A warm thank you to our parents for your involvement. Research demonstrates a tremendous amount of a student’s life success is determined by the parent.
Please do not hesitate to call me with questions regarding your child. I welcome your suggestions, and I encourage your interest and active participation in preparing our students and community for the future. I have an open-door policy and welcome you to contact me by phone, in person, or by e-mail at diane.crooknichols@osceolaschools.net.
Thank you for sharing your child (ren) with me. I look forward to a successful 2024-25 school year together!
Kind Regards,
Diane Crook-Nichols Principal
As a Choice District, we allow parents to select the school they want their children to attend, as long as that school has capacity and program availability.
Each one of our public schools has a full-time sworn law enforcement officer serving as a School Resource Officer on campus every day.
Our students have highly-qualified, certified teachers who provide engaging, relevant, and rigorous instruction.
We offer a rigorous curriculum and systems of support, complete with college preparatory and career and technical education paths to meet the needs of every student
Students have the opportunity to take high school credit courses in middle school and to earn college/postsecondary credit at no cost to parents while still in high school.
We offer courses that allow students to explore career interests, master workplace competencies, gain employable skills, and earn industry certifications and licensing upon graduation
