Principal, Diane Crook-NicholsPrincipal’s Message

Dear Families,

As we enter the third quarter, I am excited to celebrate the continued growth, resilience, and determination our students have shown throughout the year. The first half of the school year has been filled with meaningful learning, strong relationships, and collective accomplishments, and I am incredibly proud of the progress we are seeing across all grade levels.

This quarter, our focus remains on deepening academic learning and strengthening student confidence as they work toward mastering grade-level standards. We will continue to provide targeted support, enrichment opportunities, and a learning environment where every child feels capable and encouraged. Together, we will ensure our students finish the year strong.

Please stay engaged by checking our school website and weekly communications for important updates, family events, and opportunities to stay connected with our school community. Your involvement and partnership make a tremendous difference.

Thank you for your ongoing support, positivity, and commitment to our students. I look forward to a productive and successful third quarter together!

Warm regards,

Diane Crook-Nichols

Principal

Jacqueline Cruz, Mother of Lennon Cruz.

Lennon has been a part of the MAES family since he was 3 years old and is in 2nd grade now. He's grown leaps and bounds socially/emotionally. When I walk the halls as a volunteer, I love that many staff members know him by name. Being involved with PTO and SAC, I’ve learned the more you put into the school community, the more connected you feel. We’ve also been blessed with caring teachers such as Mrs. Smith, Mrs. McWhorter, and Mrs. Taylor, made such a difference in Lennon’s life. Lennon has grown so much—not just in academics, but in confidence and social skills. He's learned how to express himself, build friendships, and problem-solve in ways that will go far beyond the classroom. I recommend MAES because it’s more than just a school—it’s a community. The staff is invested in every child, families are welcoming, and opportunities for involvement make it easy to feel like you're of something bigger. It’s a place where children are supported, challenged, and truly cared for.
