Principal’s Message
Dear Families and Community,
As we wrap up the first quarter of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress our students, staff, and families have made together. The start of the year has been filled with energy, learning, and growth, and I am proud of the dedication and resilience shown by our entire school community.
Our students have settled into their routines, embraced new challenges, and demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. From engaging classroom activities to collaborative projects and school-wide events, it has been inspiring to see their enthusiasm and curiosity in action.
I would also like to recognize our teachers and staff for their unwavering support and passion. Their hard work and creativity continue to make our school a place where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
As we move into the second quarter, we remain focused on fostering a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all. Our school guidelines for success remind us daily that Bullpups are Kind, Safe, and Responsible—values that shape not only our classrooms but our entire school culture.
We encourage families to stay connected—whether through parent-teacher conferences, school events, or simply checking in with your child about their day. Your partnership is vital to our shared success. We hope you can join us at our Open House Title I Annual Meeting event scheduled for October 9, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Your involvement makes an enormous difference.
Thank you for your continued support and trust. Let us keep the momentum going and make the rest of the year even more impactful!
Warm regards,
Diane Crook-Nichols Principal

Testimonials
I love that it truly feels like home. My child, Lennon, has been a part of the MAES family since he was 3 years old and is in 2nd grade now. I’ve seen him grow leaps and bounds socially and emotionally.
When I walk the halls with him as a volunteer, I love that so many staff members know him by name. Being involved with PTO and SAC, I’ve learned that the more you put into the school community,
the more connected you feel. We’ve also been blessed with caring teachers such as Mrs. Smith, Mrs. McWhorter, and Mrs. Taylor, who have each made such a difference in Lennon’s life.
Lennon has grown so much at MAES—not just in academics, but also in confidence and social skills. He has learned how to express himself, build friendships, and problem-solve in ways
that will carry him far beyond the classroom.
I would recommend MAES because it’s more than just a school—it’s a community.
The staff is deeply invested in every child, the families are welcoming, and the opportunities for involvement make it easy to feel like you’re part of something bigger.
It’s a place where children are supported, challenged, and truly cared for.
--Jacqueline Cruz, Mother of Lennon Cruz.
