Principal’s Message
Dear Families.
Welcome to our school! As we open our doors to a fresh start, we are filled with anticipation for the opportunities that await us. Our commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth remains steadfast. We are eager to welcome back our returning students and extend a warm greeting to the new members of our school family. Together, we will cultivate an intense sense of community, where every student feels valued, accepted, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Let us embark on this journey with optimism and a shared vision for a successful and enriching year ahead.
To our incoming Kindergarten students, we are so excited to have you join our school family. This is the beginning of a wonderful adventure where you will learn, play, and make new friends. In Kindergarten, you will discover many new things. You will learn about letters and numbers, explore the world around you, and create amazing art projects. Our teachers are here to help you every step of the way, and they cannot wait to meet you. Remember, it is okay to feel a little nervous. Starting something new can be a big step, but we are all here to support you. We believe in you and know that you will do remarkable things.
Please do not hesitate to call me with questions regarding your child. I welcome your suggestions, and I encourage your interest and active participation in preparing our students and community for the future. Michigan Avenue Elementary will cultivate a collaborative community of students, parents, and teachers to ensure all can learn and grow into creative well-rounded individuals.

As a Choice District, we allow parents to select the school they want their children to attend, as long as that school has capacity and program availability.
Each one of our public schools has a full-time sworn law enforcement officer serving as a School Resource Officer on campus every day.
Our students have highly-qualified, certified teachers who provide engaging, relevant, and rigorous instruction.
We offer a rigorous curriculum and systems of support, complete with college preparatory and career and technical education paths to meet the needs of every student
Students have the opportunity to take high school credit courses in middle school and to earn college/postsecondary credit at no cost to parents while still in high school.
We offer courses that allow students to explore career interests, master workplace competencies, gain employable skills, and earn industry certifications and licensing upon graduation
