Weekly Updates Newsletter, Student Handbook & Attendance Information

Dear Michigan Avenue Elementary Families,

Our Weekly Updates Newsletter is attached and ready for your review! We encourage you to take a few minutes to read through it for important school news, upcoming events, and information to help your child have a successful school year.

Also included is our Student Handbook, which contains valuable information about school expectations, procedures, and resources available to students and families.

In this week's newsletter, you will find important information about Attendance Matters, including our procedures for requesting Pre-Arranged Excused Absences. Regular attendance plays a key role in student achievement, and we appreciate your partnership in ensuring students are present, engaged, and ready to learn each day. If you anticipate your child needing to miss school for an extended period, please review the pre-arranged absence guidelines carefully and contact the front office with any questions.

👉 Parent Action Item: Please take a moment this week to:

• Review the Weekly Updates Newsletter.
• Read through the Student Handbook with your child.
• Familiarize yourself with our attendance expectations and pre-arranged absence procedures.
• Save important dates and events to your family calendar.

Staying informed helps us work together to support your child's success and ensures that you don't miss important opportunities throughout the school year.
Thank you for your continued support of Michigan Avenue Elementary. We value our partnership with you and look forward to another great week of learning and growth!

Warm regards,

Diane Crook-Nichols
