Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

Math. Science. Numbers. Writing.  When they all align, brilliant solutions can result.  If you choose a career in engineering, for example, you will apply principles of each of these disciplines to develop logical and economical solutions to technical problems.  By combining science and math with technology, engineering and comparable career fields can discover commercial applications to serve the needs of society with commercial applications.

Our mission:
Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) prepares students for employment and/or continuing education by teaching them to understand, design, produce, use, and manage the human-made world in order to contribute and function in a technological society.

Do you enjoy science?
Are you good at math?
Do you enjoy building and fixing things?
Do you want to find answers to questions?
Would you enjoy working in a laboratory?
Are you detail-oriented?

If you answered yes to two or more of the questions, you might be a good candidate for a career in scientific research and engineering. One of the following jobs might be a great fit for you:

*
Physicist *
Biologist
*
Mechanical Engineer *
Statistician
*
Electrical Engineer *
Hazardous Materials Technician
*
Nuclear Technician *
Astronomer
*
Chemist *
Aeronautical Engineer
*
Civil Engineer *
Materials Lab Technician

Biotechnology Engineer

Jobs in the STEM Career Cluster involve planning, managing, and providing scientific research and professional technical services (e.g., physical science, social science, engineering) including laboratory and testing services, and research and development services.

Nationally, engineering is the second largest of all professions. Due to the expansion of jobs in the technical fields and the increasing numbers of engineers who are retiring, the number of job openings in technology and engineering is increasing. There is a critical shortage of engineers and engineering technologists entering the field at a time when technology is reinventing itself every few years.

Our vision: is to see that every student receives the academic knowledge and technical skills needed to be successful in the STEM career of his or her choice, by combining engineering principles, mathematics, and science courses that result in a logical through process.

Career Technical Student Organization

TSA (Technology Student Association) is dedicated to helping students develop broad technological literacy in order that they become responsible, participating, healthy and successful citizens. TSA helps students acquire and apply design, problem-solving, teaming and leadership skills. Students also learn to use simple and complex tools found in communication, manufacturing, structural, and transportation systems. Students are also given the opportunity to develop authentic skills which are reflective of today's workplace and to demonstrate and be recognized for excellence by others. In addition to competitive conferences, students have the opportunity to attend regional and state workshops.

Middle School Courses
The following Career and Technical Education courses offered at the middle schools prepare the students to enter their chosen Career Pathway. This Career Pathway leads them toward the Program of Study available at the high school level.

Integrated Technology Studies (Horizon Middle, Kissimmee Middle, Neptune Middle, Parkway Middle, St. Cloud Middle)
Technology Systems (Denn John Middle)

Programs of Study
A Program of Study (POS) contains suggested coursework, certificates, on-the-job training, postsecondary education options, and extended learning experiences within a career cluster. The following list contains the STEM Programs of Study available at schools within Osceola County. By clicking on the Program name, you can download the POS for that particular program.

Drafting/Illustrative Design Technology (Gateway High School)
Pathways to Engineering (Harmony High School, Osceola High School, Poinciana High School)
