"Help Name our New STEM High School" Banner ImagePlans are currently underway for Osceola County’s STEM Demonstration Magnet High School to be built in NeoCity, in partnership with Osceola County Board of County Commissioners, the University of Central Florida, and Bridg. The school, which is set to open in August 2018, will support the need to develop a specialized talent pipeline to support the new economy being developed through NeoCity. Students from across the district who apply to attend and who are selected will be provided with rigorous hands-on learning opportunities in STEM fields, such as Engineering/Advanced Manufacturing, Biomedical Engineering, and Cybersecurity. Students will have the opportunity for Dual Enrollment advanced academic and STEM coursework with the University of Central Florida, and have direct enrollment opportunities with the college upon graduation.

The Osceola County School Board invites the public to offer suggestions on the name of the new high school, its colors, and mascot at http://www.osceolaschools.net/nametheneocityschool. Name ideas should include an explanation as to why the submission would be appropriate for the new school. Suggestions may reflect history, events, heritage, geographic features, or anything the submitter feels is relevant to the local area or the school concept. As outlined in School Board Rules (SB Rule 8.54), schools shall not be named after a living person or after individual subdivisions. The deadline for submissions is November 24, 2017.
