What is the Academy of STEM Technology?
The Academy of STEM Technology is a rigorous and unique program emphasizing the core areas of mathematics and science with an infusion of technology and engineering. There are extensive laboratory experiences using the most contemporary technologies for scientific inquiry, mathematical calculation, and engineering design and problem-solving techniques. Students are exposed to numerous and diverse technological applications including: computers, simulation software, digital imaging, data acquisition, sensors, diagnostic, and other peripheral devices. An interdisciplinary approach to curriculum, stressing complete understanding of systems, with and emphasis on critical and creative thinking is used in all academic coursework.

An Academy integrates college-preparatory curriculum with a career theme. In other words, an Academy offers:
  1. career-focused curriculum" to a subset of students (school within a school)
  2. by involving teachers from different subjects (college-prep academics)
  3. working together as a team and providing students with exposure (work-place experience)
